BIM Methodology
For Colima 49, MDL acted as both lead designer and technical coordinator. The core challenge was integrating a complex mixed-use program into a severely restricted urban footprint without compromising spatial quality or vertical sightlines. By stripping back decorative elements, the raw structural grid becomes the defining aesthetic expression of the building.
The entire superstructure was pre-coordinated at LOD 350 before casting began. Due to the high density of MEP systems in the exposed ceilings, Navisworks clash detection workflows were critical to ensuring aesthetic purity on site. Over 150 critical interferences were resolved virtually, saving an estimated 4 weeks of rework.
